About TY:
Ty Bates attended Kaskaskia College, where he graduated with an Associate in Applied Science, Administration of Justice in 2003. He resides with his wife of 16 years and 2 daughters, 14 and 12, in Patoka, IL.
Ty worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections for 10 years where he was a Correctional Officer at Centralia Correctional Center; Assistant Warden of Programs at Centralia and Big Muddy River Correctional Centers; Warden at Big Muddy River Correctional Center and Deputy Director of Operations for the Southern District. In 2015, Ty became an agent at Bates Insurance Agency, LLC - Shelter Insurance in Vandalia IL and continues to serve Vandalia and surrounding communities as well as Missouri and Ohio.
Ty is a deacon and past board chairman at Calumet Street Christian Church, former member of Centralia’s Planning and Zoning Commission and a member of Marion County Board from 2006-2012. ​Ty joined McKellar, Robertson, McCarty & Click in August of 2021
